
EUL PROGRAMME
Course Objectives
- to re-engage disaffected, unemployed young people aged 16 to 18.
- to raise participants' self-esteem.
- to improve basic and key skills, vocational skills and develop employability.
- to encourage personal and social development.
- planned outcomes - to move young people into further training or employment.
Course Fees and Learner Benefits
NOTE : THIS PROGRAMME IS SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY FROM 1ST JANUARY 2007 DUE TO INSUFFICIENT FUNDING
The course is free to participants at the point of delivery. The programme is supported by the City of Bristol College.
Learners may be entitled to claim the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) whilst attending this programme - see Connexions PAs for support completing applications and allow 6 weeks for payments to be sanctioned.
Participants' bus travel costs to and from the Project are reimbursed once Learners are on programme.
BONUS PAYMENT
If a learner leaves Wheels and progresses into either:-
- Apprenticeship
- Full time job
- Training course running more than 16 hours per week
s/he will be eligible to receive a £50 bonus from the Wheels Project providing
- This positive outcome is achieved within 13 weeks of their official leaving date
- The learner submits written confirmation on headed notepaper confirming they have completed a minimum of 4 weeks in this environment

The Education Unlimited (EUL) Programme is an excellent follow on from our Junior Wheels Programme.
INTAKE DATES for 2006/2007:

Young people aged 16-18 are usually referred through the Connexions Service.
Individuals may also self-refer.
After referral each young person is offered a personal interview at the Project which involves basic skills screening assessments and the identification of barriers to learning.
Each starter receives:
- Full Induction
- Initial Assessment
- Individual Action Plan
- Regular Reviews
- Vocational skills training in motor vehicle studies
- Embedded basic and key skills training
- Personal and social development training
- Employment training including work placements
The programme is delivered initially over 2 days a week extending to 3.5 days a week when on work placement.
Participants may be awarded certification for:
- Completion
- The AALA Outdoor Activities Hill Walking - Bronze Award
- First Aid (Heartstart)
- Manual Handling
- OCR modules in Motor Vehicle Studies (Entry 3 level)
- OCR in Literacy and Numeracy (Levels 1 and 2)
